Honey Sunday - November 7, 2010

Honey Sunday

Honey Sunday is The Arc of Omaha’s longest running fundraiser. Honey Sunday is a national fundraiser for Arc chapters around the United States and takes place on the first Sunday in November. On Honey Sunday, thousands of volunteers form teams and go door-to-door throughout Omaha selling bottles of honey for $5 to benefit the programs of The Arc of Omaha serving individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. In addition to door-to-door sales, churches, parishes, and synagogues in the Omaha area sell honey before and after services. Also, local businesses have become involved in Honey Sunday by creating Honey Week, selling honey to employees and customers the week following Honey Sunday.

Honey Sunday is a much-loved and anticipated event in Omaha. The staff of The Arc of Omaha as well as individuals who receive our services truly appreciate the generosity of the Omaha community because without the funds from Honey Sunday, The Arc of Omaha could not fulfill its mission to improve and enrich the lives of people with developmental disabilities and to provide information, education, and support to their families.
